Hello My name is Don. I will answer your question and tell you how to get your mirror finish.

Yes use a good shampoo recomended for vehicles ( not household as they contain acids, and can spoil your car paintwork. ) .After washing rinse well, and dry with a chamois ,if possible . Now to shine. With a good polish,Autoglym or similar ,follow the application instructions. One little tip. After polishing your car bodywork, dampen the polish application cloth ( this also must be soft non abrasive ),and go over your nice shiny paintwork. Then buff up when dry to a super gloss. Doing this will level out any overzealous application of polish. Repeat performance and you will have a coating to see the vehicle through the winter months. When washing, wash with sponge containing the wash n wax shampoo, wash off with another sponge with clear water, and dry using a microfibre cloth. The microfibre cloth can be hand or machine washed. The chamois must be gently hand washes easing out any dirt ,and when clean the chamois ought to be soaked in a soapy solution excess wrung out ,and chamois gently stretched side to sie ,end to end ,and hung up to dry, You have just gleaned over thirty years of experienced info . all best Don
Marketing and sales people must just love you! Price is not necessarily an indication of quality or efficiency! A mirror finish ? Not with a wax wash shampoo, the amount of wax deposited is miniscule. Do it the hard way, wash, dry, polish! Mer is certainly decent stuff and meguiars likewise.
T-cut lightly to remove any nasty bits.

Clean with autoglym wash and get some autoglym super resin polish to put a hard coat deep shine over the paintwork.

Colour magic is good if you want to do it every week but if you use it and leave it a couple of months makes paint look nasty.

DO NOT USE BRAKE FLUID, hopefully someone will pour a bottle over his vehicle.

Buy the autoglym from local accessory shop or from autoglym guy you will see in dealers at various times.

Don't buy it from halfords or charlie browns etc, they will charge you loads for it.
Do NOT use brake fluid it will remove all the paintwork. Wash your car with any car shampoo, dry it off then use a good car polish.

Many on the market, I use 'Mer' on my motorhome (german make) if you cant get it use Turtle or any major brand, you may have to do it a few times to get a really good shine.
If you are genuinely serious, check out 'Clear Autobathe' from Zymol.

It costs 拢80 a litre.

For the ultimate shine, Zymol also offer their 'Royale Glaze Wax' polish, at just 拢5,041 per kilo (no, that's not a mistype - it really is 5 grand a kilo...).

But, let's face it, you probably didn't actually mean ';really expensive';, did you?
I've had excellent results with Meguiar's

vinegar and newspaper

a good polish would be better if you want it that shiny.
The best cleaning product i've come across is Mer
try brake fluid it brings the colour right out its what they use in show rooms
